Fun speakers but with some drawbacks.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me just say that the JBL Pulse 4 speakers are very fun and unique speakers. I would say that If you want to have a speaker that is fun for the house parties, dorm, bbq's, picknicks, camping. The Pulse 4 is perfectly adequate albeit expensive for what it offers. So, I purchased two speakers to have the full stereo experience It claims to be able to provide. Points that I would like to make: 1. The sound comes from the top and the base from the bottom. I would say that the sound is relatively loud. Especially when the two are paired in Partyboost mode (2x speakers), It doesn't give you that defined directional feel that many of the other 360 speakers provide though. I have heard the sound of some other higher-end type Bluetooth speakers. Their sound is a little richer and defined. Unless you have walls and ceilings for the sound to bounce off of, the sound projects upward and is lost outdoors a little more. This was of course to accommodate the visually impressive light show. 2. The lighting is awesome and entertaining. I would say that these speakers are semi-portable. There is no handle to carry them and the polycarbonate shell is definitely fingerprint prone, and can easily scratch if not protected. Plus for smaller hands, it may be a little hard to carry. It can be slippery. So if camping, for example, you should invest in an aftermarket case. 3. The JBL Connect app. It is terrible and buggy. I have spent hours trying to connect the units with my phone or together in stereo. Sometimes it works sometimes it won't recognize the app. It does go into Party Mode easily by pressing the PartyBoost button on the unit (same sound out of both speakers=louder), but I find trying to get stereo mode (L-R separation) is near impossible. If any suggestion to JBL is to clean up this app. To pair these speakers especially in Stereo mode is like doing the Hokey-Pokey....Do this step, then that step and hope it connects, if not start all over again. During a party or get together that's not what you want to be doing. JBL hardware is outstanding software...please do better. 4. The speakers are using an older Bluetooth Codec. not the newer AptX HD for example. So they are not for watching videos. The sync will be off. The newer codex allows a higher bitstream I gather, so more fidelity and a more defined sound. 5. Minor, but there is no AUX connector either. 6. Also note, The Party Boost mode is not backward compatible with the JBL Connect and The JBL Connect+ systems. Only with like Party Boost systems. It is supposed to have better connectivity between two like units. These speakers are really fun and a conversation starter. They are for a person who likes the visual party vibe. They are a really good speaker, with good loud clear sound. There are better sounding ones for the money out there but you need to know how it will suit your lifestyle. I just wanted to point out some of the limitations that would make this a truly awesome speaker(s). It is an investment, especially if you buy two as I did. Good luck.

Good quality but not as good as others it’s size.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is definitely different from others I have purchased before. The biggest draw is the lights show. It is the best feature of this speaker and will be the only reason you choose this speaker over others in the price range. The sound is good but not as good as others in the price range. Sound comes out of the top and the best place to play it is indoors as this setup allows the sound to bounce off the ceiling. This speaker is definitely not for outdoor use. The weight of the speaker is much heavier than other speakers, and the acrylic outer shell is not gonna be the most durable if you drop it. Also because of the top firing speaker not having a ceiling outdoors will make sure that the volume will be diminished. I would definitely recommend if you plan to use it only indoors. But if you want an outdoor speaker I would tell you look elsewhere. Also I would recommend waiting for a sale like I did as the sound quality doesn’t warrant full retail price.

Best sound quality
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best - and I mean *BEST* speaker I’ve ever owned. It gets so loud!!!! The lights are a very cool touch. It’s a bit heavy, but the inconvenience is totally worth it.

Love it!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This speaker is gorgeous for one and the sound quality is amazing for it to be so small. Everyone who I’ve showed it to are amazed and now wants one too lol. As soon as I opened and felt the weight I knew it was quality, this is not a little flimsy speaker and is worth the price. I may even buy another one. For reference I’m a techy person who had 12 inch subs in their trunk in highschool. I grew up with Sony boom boxes and radios. So yea I know sound and the bass/ dept are great also. Can’t wait to buy more JBL speakers.

Q: QuestionCan this speaker be tracked if it's lost or stolen?
Asked by Sabir.
- A:Answer Our JBL Pulse 4 does not have a GPS tracking feature when it gets lost or stolen.

Q: Questioncan I use this speaker with a PC?
Asked by Trz.
- A:Answer You can depending on how old your computer is. My computer was fairly new and I still need to update my Bluetooth driver to work with JBL speakers. You can also use the auxiliary input on some of the JBL speakers. I wouldn't recommend using the speaker with the computer simply because it's is single mono speaker. I would recommend getting the JBL Flip 5. I would get two of them. Then you can link them together.

Q: QuestionCan this speaker be used with Alexa? Also is there a microphone that would work with it to do karaoke? Can other speakers work with it?
Asked by Sammy.
- A:Answer It's possible if your Alexa device can connect with Bluetooth speakers. Microphones don't work with it. Other portable JBL speakers with a PartyBoost feature like Flip 5 and Boombox 2 can connect to and play the same music at once.

Q: QuestionDifference between the pulse 3&4
Asked by Ski.
- A:Answer The major difference is their design, the music playing time and output power are the same, however the JBL PULSE 4 takes 3.5 hours to be fully charged whereas the JBL PULSE 3 charges completely in 4.5 hours, the JBL PULSE 4 sounds better too, a price difference should be expected as well

Q: QuestionWhich one is better with the sound… the JBL- pulse 4 LED portable bluetooth speaker or the JBL - Flip 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker?
Asked by GiGi.
- A:Answer Our JBL Flip 5 sounds more powerful, crisper, and goes louder thanks to its improved driver. While the JBL Pulse 4 has acceptable music performance, It has a well-balanced midrange, so it can accurately reproduce vocals and lead instruments.
