Back where it all started, Sean Wotherspoon and adidas present a new black colorway of the SUPEREARTH Superstar, the designer’s first collaboration with the German sportswear brand. If you’re familiar with the original white iteration, you’ll immediately notice that many of the same design details are carried over to the black pair, including multicolored floral embroidery, a bright orange tongue, and the earth-inspired character that decorates the laces. Patchwork-style elements come together to reflect Wotherspoon’s affinity for upcycling and flea market hunting, as sustainability remains at the core of everything he does. Each of Sean’s adidas sneakers adheres to an eco-friendly theme. For the SUPEREARTH Superstar, the shoe is made using scraps from past projects, such as the tongue being crafted from vintage adidas Samba sneakers, for example, a nod to Wotherspoon’s love of football. Wotherspoon believes products aren’t merely for collecting, but to wear and love, and the SUPEREARTH Superstar is no exception. As he points out, things look better worn in, going on to develop character over time.
